The New Construction Award is presented to the team responsible for a new commercial or institutional (hospital, government building or academic institution) project which demonstrates optimal building operations, performance, and occupant satisfaction. Canadian new construction projects registered for, or certified by, a recognized green building standard or rating system are eligible. This award focuses on the design stage of the building and the choices made in order to achieve the sustainability goals. Construction completion date must be after January 1, two years prior to award submission. The evaluation will consider: energy and GHG reduction features; occupant health and wellness; water conservation resources; site selection; and, innovation.

Le Prix pour une nouvelle construction est remis à l’équipe responsable d’un projet de nouveau bâtiment commercial ou institutionnel (hôpital, édifice gouvernemental ou établissement d’enseignement) qui est exploité de façon optimale, est performant et génère la satisfaction des occupants. Les projets de nouvelle construction qui sont inscrits à une norme ou à un système d’évaluation du bâtiment durable reconnus ou qui en ont obtenu la certification sont admissibles. Ce prix insiste sur la conception du bâtiment et les choix effectués pour atteindre les objectifs de durabilité. La date d’achèvement de la construction doit être postérieure au 1er janvier, deux ans avant la date de présentation de la candidature à ce prix. Les critères d’évaluation sont les suivants : caractéristiques de réduction de la consommation d’énergie et de l’émission de GES; santé et bien-être des occupants; conservation de l’eau; sélection de l’emplacement; et innovation.
